ARE YOU INTO CHEMS?

I’m working on a documentary about Chem Sex in the UK.  The 30 minute doc will go out on BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service in early July and seeks to explore the chem sex scene. We want to make the most rounded, accurate and informed documentary possible, with the aim of instigating a broader discussion.

I’m looking for prospective contributors who have personal experience of the chem sex scene.  It maybe something you enjoy as recreation or something you want to turn your back on.  Either way, I’d like to hear from you.

At this stage, I’d like to have an informal conversation with you in person or over the phone.  There is no obligation to commit to taking part.  If, after initial contact you feel you maybe able to make a contribution to the documentary, we can move forward.

For examples of my work please see www.mobeenazhar.co.uk I can be contacted on mobeen.azhar@bbc.co.uk or via twitter on @Mobeen_Azhar  You can also call me on 07715 00 10 60, many thanks.

‘The Fabled Black Disabled Lesbian’

Research Worker for Dr Nathaniel  Adam Tobias Coleman, Phd

Research Associate in the Philosophy of ‘Race’

Department of Philosophy, University College London

Gower Street, London WC1E 6BT, http://blogs.ucl.ac.uk/race

Would you be willing to do some research for me? Or would you, please, help me to identify a colleague who might be?

I plan to place Prof Audre Lorde at the heart of the proposal for the new and ground-breaking Master’s in ‘RACE’@UCL. In order to demonstrate Prof Lorde’s relevance to British political discourse, I want to confront head-on the ‘fable…’ to which this official British document refers, on p. 64:

‘The phrase ‘multiple disadvantage’ has drifted into popular use in recent years. It is taken to mean that having more than one characteristic typically associated with a disadvantage increases an individual’s likelihood of experiencing that disadvantage. The idea has even been lampooned with some media competing to find the most ‘oppressed’ person – the fabled Black disabled lesbian, for example’.

http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20100807034701/http:/archive.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/equalitiesreview/upload/assets/www.theequalitiesreview.org.uk/equality_review.pdf

More so than from the scholarly literature (although that would be helpful, too), I am especially keen to find short, sharp, and damning quotations from the British media. I suspect that the Daily Mail will be the largest repository of them, but it would be politically helpful to have these drawn from the media of the so-called Liberal Left and Centre Right. Is this something that you, or a colleague of yours, might be willing to complete for me?
